RIL BECOMES INDIA'S LARGEST TAXPAYER IN THE PRIVATE SECTOR

Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani on Thursday said that Reliance is India's largest payer of Goods and Services Tax (GST), Excise and Customs Duty, and Income Tax in the private sector. Speaking at the Reliance Industries' 41st Annual General Meeting, Mukesh Ambani highlighted that Jio's subscribers grew from 124 million at the end of last year to 210 million at the end of FY18.Jio's subscribers grew from 124 million at the end of last year to 210 million at the end of FY18. The company's consolidated revenue stood at Rs 1,29,120 crore (up 39% during Q4 FY 18) compared to the Rs 92,889 crore posted in the corresponding quarter a year ago.

US BOYCOTTS INFORMAL UNSC MEETING ON ICC'S 20TH ANNIVERSARY

An informal U.N. Security Council meeting to mark the 20th anniversary of the statute that created the International Criminal Court was boycotted Friday by the United States, which is not a party to the world’s first permanent war crimes tribunal. There is no requirement that the 15 council members attend informal meetings, but it is rare for a member to boycott, especially a veto-wielding permanent member like the United States.

ANJU KHOSLA BECOMES OLDEST INDIAN WOMAN TO COMPLETE IRONMAN TRIATHLON

At an age when most people begin to plan for retirement, Anju Khosla is revving up life chasing fresh adventures. At 52, she has just become the oldest Indian woman to complete an Ironman Triathlon – one of the toughest one-day sporting events. The New Delhi resident completed her first full Ironman Triathlon, in Carinthia, Austria, in 15 hours, 54 minutes and 54 seconds. It comprises 3.86 km swimming leg, 180.25 km bike leg followed by a marathon (42.2 km), to be completed without a break.

YES BANK GETS SEBI NOD TO LAUNCH MUTUAL FUND BUSINESS

Yes Bank has received approval from capital markets regulator SEBI to start mutual fund business. This approval is subsequent to the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) approval granted to Yes Bank to sponsor a mutual fund followed by SEBI’s in-principle approval received subsequently. Yes Asset Management (India) Limited (YAMIL) will leverage YES BANK’s Knowledge Banking expertise and relationship capital across retail, corporate and institutional investors to effectively channelise their assets in equity and debt capital markets. Yes Asset Management will launch fund offerings across the spectrum of both debt and equity markets over the next 6-12 months.

ADARSH KUMAR GOEL

Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel (Former Supreme Court Judge) has been appointed as the new Chairperson of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) for five years term. The post of NGT chairperson had been lying vacant after the retirement of Justice Swatanter Kumar. The tribunal's principal bench is in New Delhi and its zonal benches are in Bhopal, Pune, Kolkata & Chennai. Its circuit benches are in Shimla, Shillong, Jodhpur and Kochi.
