RAJASTHAN'S JODHPUR, MARWAR CLEANLIEST AMONG MAJOR RAILWAY STATIONS

Jodhpur and Marwar railway stations have emerged the cleanliest among the major stations in the country in the latest round of cleanliness assessment study. This was announced by Railway Minister Piyush Goyal in New Delhi yesterday. While Jodhpur secured first position in A1 category stations this year, Jaipur was second and Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh third. In the A category, Marwar was first, with Phulera taking the second place and Warangal in Telangana at the third spot.A1 and A category stations contribute 80 per cent of the passenger revenue. The stations are categorised based on revenue generated and footfalls.None of the major stations in the metros found a place in the top 10 list save for Anand Vihar in New Delhi which came in at fifth position.The third report of Third Party Audit-cum-Survey of ranking of cleanliness covers 407 stations which include 75 stations in A1 and 332 stations in A category stations.

SPECIAL METRO TRAIN TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF PATRIOTISM

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is operating a specially decorated six-coach train, covered in photographs of freedom fighters, martyrs and soldiers on the Yellow Line (Samaypur Badli-HUDA City Centre)

.Photographs of freedom fighters such as Mahatma Gandhi, Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Subhash Chandra Bose, Dr B R Ambedkar, Indian personalities like Lata Mangeshkar, APJ Abdul Kalam, Ustad Bismillah Khan, Kapil Dev etc are featured on the train, which will run on the corridor for the next two months.

RETAIL INFLATION FALLS TO 4.17 PERCENT IN JULY

Retail inflation fell to a nine-month low of 4.17 percent in July on account of a slowdown in the prices of vegetables and fruits, said government data released
Based on Consumer Price Index (CPI), inflation for June has also been revised downwards to 4.92 percent from the earlier estimate of 5 percent, as per the Central Statistics Office (CSO) data released Its previous low was in October 2017 at 3.58 percent. As for year-on-year comparison, retail inflation had increased by 2.36 percent in July last year.

The CSO data revealed that inflation in vegetables declined by (-) 2.19 percent last month, compared to 7.8 percent in June. The rate of price rise in fruits slowed down 6.98 percent, as against over 10 percent in the previous month.As per the data, the inflation in protein-rich items like meat and fish, and also milk was also slower in July compared to the previous month. However, inflation in the 'fuel and light' segment based on the changes in the CPI increased to 7.96 percent from 7.14 in the previous month.

Retail inflation:

  • By which the market is spreading currency and the increase or decrease in the price of the goods is calculated.
  • It is a matter of inflationary inflation, to increase the price of things and to index a decrease in the price of a scientifically scientifically. This also fixes interest rates.
  • Inflation in supply also leads to inflationary pressures and structural imbalances.
  • In general it would mean that they are an increase in value level in a given period of time without increasing the rate of uninterrupted rate which increases the likelihood of further growth in the future.

RAFAEL NADAL BEATS STEFANOS TSITSIPAS TO CLAIM ROGERS CUP IN TORONTO

Rafael Nadal won his 80th ATP World Tour title - and spoiled Stefanos Tsitsipas' 20th birthday. The top-ranked Nadal beat the unseeded Greek upstart 6-2, 7-6 (4) for his fourth Rogers Cup crown and fifth victory of the year. He has 33 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 titles. The 32-year-old Spanish star also won the Rogers Cup in Toronto in 2008 and Montreal in 2005 and 2013. His previous four titles this year came on clay at the French Open, Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Rome. He also beat Tsitsipas in in the Barcelona final.

Smt. Justice Manjula Chellur took Oath as Chairperson, Appellate Tribunal for Electricity, Ministry of Power.Prior to this, Smt. Justice Manjula Chellur was Chief Justice of Bombay High Court. She was the first woman Chief Justice of Calcutta High Court.

BALRAM DAS TANDON

Governor of Chhattisgarh Balram Das Tandon (90-year) passed away in Raipur.
Tandon was a founding member of the Jan Sangh in 1951.He served as secretary of Punjab Jan Sangh from 1951 to 1957, and as president of the Punjab BJP from 1995-97.
